  • A private vessel drifted and collided with a jetty at INS Karanja in Uran in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, some 70 kilometres from Mumbai .
  • The vessel MV Halami Star drifted after its anchor broke, an official said, though he added that the jetty did not suffer damage. A check of the ship by Mumbai Port Control and Marine Police did not find anything suspicious.

  • INS Karnja (2018) is the third submarine of the first batch of six Kalvari-class submarines for the Indian Navy. It is a diesel-electric attack submarine based on the Scorpène class, designed by French naval defence and energy group DCNS and manufactured by Mazagon Dock Limited, an Indian shipyard in Mumbai.The ship was launched on 31 January 2018.


Tamil Nadu: Now, track MTC buses on phone with ‘Chalo’ app

  • Just like Ola and Uber, passengers can now live track government buses in the city using „Chalo‟ app.
  • The app provides details on nearest bus stops and next five Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses scheduled to arrive at any selected stop in both online and offline modes Users can also search timings of buses along specific authorised routes .For instance, for route 570 (Kelambakkam to
    Koyambedu CMBT),the app will show the source, destination and list of bus stops on the route.
  • Also a live map, showing the present location of buses plying on the route, will be displayed for users.By selecting one of the buses, passengers may get to know when it would reach the nearest bus stop (based on GPS).

  • Army training for youth from Tamil Nadu, Kerala ,Andhra Pradesh,and karnataka has been given in Coonoor Wellington Military Training Cantonment.
  • Soldiers who are trained here will be sent to the borders of Nation to serve the country.


Government appoints Justice B L Bhat as officiating chairman of NCLAT

The government has appointed Justice Bansi Lal Bhat as the officiating chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). NCLAT Chairperson Justice Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya retired on Friday.
