In Tamil Nadu TNPSC is the powerful agency to recruit State Government Civil Services officers. There are number of services like TNPSC Group 1, Group 1 A, Group 1 B, Group 2, Group 2 A, Group 3, Group 4, Group 5 A, Group 7 and VAO.

Candidates minimum of 18 years & no maximum limit for Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribes, Most Backward Classes/ Denotified Communities, Backward Classes (Other than Muslim), Backward Classes (Muslims) and Destitute Widows of all castes and between 18-30 years for Others as on 01-07-2017. Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.
Candidates should possess Bachelor’s Degree for Personal Clerk, Steno Typist, Accountant, B.L. Degree awarded by any University recognized by the University Grants Commission for Assistant in (Law Department) Secretariat, Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Economics or Statistics for Assistant in (Finance Department) Secretariat. One important aspect of the TNPSC is that the syllabus remains the same for all the groups. Thus irrespective of the post for which you are applying, you need to cross the basic barrier. This is done to test the candidates in the basic knowledge and acumen, which is same across all posts. The option of taking the test either in Tamil or in English ensures that nobody is left out because of a language barrier.
